Here are some shots from my first roll through my new (to me) Canon Canonet QL17 GIII, a great 35mm rangefinder introduced in 1972. It features a shutter-priority auto mode and I used that for all of the shots on this roll, so I could get a sense of how the meter works. I think in general the meter was close to nailing exposure for the whole roll I’d say a lot of the shots are underexposed by maybe a third to half a stop and that leads to slightly muddy shadows, but for a 40 year old meter I’m pretty impressed. This roll was shot with a skylight filter that came with the camera and I think I’m going to replace that with a UV filter–I know skylight filters were popular back in the day but they never really did it for me.
